Description

The night of Aug 12-13, 2023 I was in northern Arizona in some dark skies hoping to catch something. The monsoons here make it cloudy and stormy by afternoon, but the night did clear enough!
For this shot, I had my astro-modified Canon Rebel with Rokinon 14mm lens mounted on my Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer. ISO set for 1600 with 90 sec exposures. Most of the meteors showed up after 1 a.m. and I stayed up till about 2 a.m. to watch. I stacked all the 168 images from the night with 10 darks in DSS to form my base milky way image. I pulled all the shots with a meteor, did minor adjustments in light room, exported as tiff, and then did noise extermination in Pixinsight. These were then aligned with the base image of the milky way in Photoshop. Using masks, I isolated the meteor in each image, then stacked them together into the final image.
